For this assignment we built on the previous Google Forms assignment. This time I created a form in Google Drive for a quiz I will be giving later this week. For each assignment we have been given I am trying to create something that I will use now. So far so good. I went in a transferred a quiz we are already using in Career Pathways into a Google form. Selected a Theme that I liked, and in no time at all I had another quiz. However, this time I followed the lesson on creating a self grading quiz. When I was done the answers for the quiz were self checked in the spreed sheet and the average grade tallied for each student.
I learned a lot in this lesson. Although I have used formulas in Excel, this lesson demonstrated for me how to use what I know in Excel and apply it to forms on Google Drive. I was excited at how fast and easy it was to make the quiz. I will be ready to use it later this week.
Using Google Forms for my class is going to help my students to have an alternate method for taking quizzes rather than paper and pencil. This is very helpful for many of them, since they are much more comfortable with a keyboard than with a pencil. Since so many other tests, such as our SOLs are now given on a computer, it is a good practice for teachers in the classroom to use the same medium. The more comfortable students are with using the computer, the better for them on test taking. Also, as far as impacting my class directly, many applications for employment are now done on line. So, this is another example of how using a digital quiz is a positive reinforcement for my students.

In this lesson I was able to design and develop a digital age assessment. With the population that I work with it is important to provide students with varied formative assessments. Google forms gives students a method of taking an assessment that does not require the use of paper and pencil.
