Voki

This was a fun assignment where we used the website to create an avatar. The web site is Voki.  In this assignment I first created a document in word of 183 words describing me as a teacher. I placed it in my Google Docs. Here is my text. I created an account and had fun picking out an avatar that I thought looked interesting. I liked that you could roll the dice and have the computer randomly generate a character or you could create one on your own. Once I had a character I thought looked interesting, I was ready to move on.  I then pasted my text in to the text box and used the text to voice feature. My Avatar.

I did not know about this site, so I learned about a great new site that I can use for presenting material to my class. I will also teach this to my class, and can see having students use the site to create a presentation for one of the many presentations they do in the course. It was fun and easy.

This like so many of the other sites that we have visited through this class has given so much information that i can take directly into the classroom. I have truly enjoyed what I have learned and have found it relevant and meaningful to me as a teacher. So, I suppose this will be my last blog. I have enjoyed reading the other student's blogs and enjoyed taking this on line course. That has not always been my experience. We live in an age where information and data is plentiful and where we can all be self directed learners. I enjoyed being given tasks where I was required to explore in order to fully learn.

In this lesson the standards that apply are that I can use this site for a project for my students so for me this was modeling digital age work. Also, this lesson gave me an easy to use digital tool that will help me communicate relevant information to students in an interesting way using a digital age format that can easily be shared with others.
